I think if you are reading reviews for this game you will know that its an early acess game, and as all games in this state this one is not finished and needs polish. So what can you expect from the current early access version. The Good- interesting unit variety- simple economic model- Decent faction variety- moving factories!- Simple but cute graphics- Simple but serviceable Ai compared to games like starcraft 2The bad- unfinished ui- unbalanced unit stats- numbers battle for the most part- lack of some commands or default key combinations used in regular RTS`s- (Personal complaint) game is too dark, but it gives some personalityShould you buy this game?- Well i got the game to support it`s development cause i think it has a lot of potencial, and should you feel the same way go ahead and buy it.- If your looking for a more finished product to fill your RTS needs, either wait for the game`s release or go buy an already released game.Cheers and happy gaming.. This is a litteraly, good stratedgy game. It doesn't catch the same spirit of other RTS's like StarCraft, Warcraft 3, Total War Series, Savage or the Age of Empire Series, but it's still a good stratedgy game.I have had my few expirences with the bugs and the control layout picked for this title, but after a little adaption to the hotkeys for attacking, building and so on; I was having a ball. They are now currently giving away the Noxx DLC for free, so I got no complaints with them on that! Each race has it's own strengths and weaknesses and each on of them react uniquely. Example, The Nova race, all of their buildings fly, land and take off with the exception of the command center. IIt sounds like Terrans from Star Craft, though I never seen the terrans move a stationary laser turret or a bunker to the front lines in the middle of a battle before.Another Example is the XY's, The use of the small 'cell' minions to create buildings and units! If you no longer need a unit or a building, it can be broken back down to the cell minion uniots and be built into something else! It's my favorite race so far for the versatility this race has and the change of tactics on the fly!Next thing I love about this game is the use of darkness in all of the games played in NightSide. While it keeps the devs from having to create textures for their maps, it acts perfectly as a fog of war and can help determine the power of your army or settlement. Such as, when you have a bunch or units gathered together, you can see a little more of the map around you and the units area is more well lit vs. a single unit out in the darkness is only a speck of dirt when he's trudging out there.I'm not a huge fan of techno, but the music composed for this during games is beautiful. I may look into buying it at some point when I have the funds. If there's a NightSide 2 in development oir if the Dev's plan to Release something else for this RTS, consider me hooked and in line toi get it.. Meh... clunky, run of the mill, RTS.Very limited hud, no tooltips for units, very little in way of story. No scripted events (that I have noticed).Fog of war is meant to be an interesting dynamic, but with how slow units move combined with VERY limited range of light cast by said units, makes for a boring back and forth sweep of the map to find objectives.(Also, no quit option in menu, only surrender or restart, so ALT+F4 is often the easiest way to bail on this VERY average game.). quot;Nightside" is an RTS that features/will feature three races, a single resource, a campaign, online multiplayer (2-4 players), and AI skirmishes (currently 1 vs 1). I am rather disappointed in the way RTS's seem to be heading as of late with regards to large skirmish battles (or lack thereof)...back in my day we had some really great eight player skirmish battles in "Warcraft II". Had this game been priced the same as "Grey Goo", I'd probably give it a "no-recommend". Luckily, the Early Access price is only ten bucks, which isn't bad when you compare it and its features to the aforementioned game that goes for fifty. I'm not sure how I feel about "the night" replacing your typical fog-of-war...I kind of miss the shroud and being able to see territories that I've already discovered. As it stands, this game is fairly enjoyable though I wouldn't mind seeing some larger maps and more AI opponents on the field at once. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcgfxo9nlxg. useless crappand story has only 5 maps with that thing they call story..... This game is very confusing with what little a story I can put together because I can't get past the first level because the instructions are either A put together horribly or B the units are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. From what I've been able to play not much I stopped at 26 because the majority as I said was trying to beat the first damn mission I gave up entirely when I noticed howw horrible the graphics were at the beginning and the price you had to pay I regretted this game so much Idc if you mock the graphics thing thats how games are sold these days good graphics gameplay makes for a highly successful game... But this had none of those two aspects so for me it crashed and burned I bought it out of curiousity.... All in all I would avoid this untill the devs actually do something from the news its showing they're just dropping this game and moving on like what? Ugh! Anyway avoid this game if you have any sense. A non-biased quick look @ the game:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXYVScmhpH4A competent and unique 'Command & Conquer' style strategy game. NIGHTSIDE is a four races sci-fi base building real time strategy game set on the dark side of an unknown planet where the valuable "green ice" resource can be found. Follow Adam, a human explorer, as he discovers the secrets of this dark world through a story-driven single player campaign, battle online against other players or team up against AI opponents or practice solo against a challenging AI.. No save game functionality. Imho an absolute no-go for a RTS.. Nope. Just nope. Sorry, Nighside, you tried, and you failed, horribly. I don't care, if this was made by 1 guy or a whole studio (don't know). You're asking quite a bit of money for it.Where should I even begin? The tutorial is nondescript and bland as can be. It literally just tells you to build a,b,c,d, defeat your enemy...wow. I learned nothing from that. If you read the unit and building tooltips at least you can gleam some insight into what each unit can do...but "fast fighter, attacks air" is about the end of that, too.The "story" mode is a mixture of extremely ugly 90s era render videos (even those were better at the time) and tell you literally nothing. Then you get a 2 sentence "mission briefing" a la "crashed, but ship still functional." Really? I couldn't bother to even finish mission 1, sorry. If you're not able to grab my attention with the very first mission at least, you do not deserve my money.Graphics: Actually "ok". A bit dated for a modern game, but it's indie, so ok. What is not ok in my opinion is the unit design, which makes it hard to even differentiate between units. I couldn't tell you if I was just commanding some sort of tank or a bomber or fighter? Who knows...every unit has an arbitrary and samey design, since the colour and geometry palette seems to be very restricted. Makes it really hard to fight with any sense of strategy.Units also move pretty slowly, so yea, another slow paced RTS.Sound: There is sound in this game? Units make no movement sounds at all. It's eery. No affirmatives, nothing. Combat sounds extremely dull. Simple laser Pew pew. Eh, not even a real pew pew, more like a "thud thud". All attacks even look the same. It's just not appealing imho, neither in the sound department nor in the graphics department.Animation quality: Let's just skip that one. I've seen 10 year old RTS games with better animation quality. The units don't even "connect" with the ground if they use legs...floaty legs!!!!Atmosphere: Actually decent. Eery. Haunting. But not enough to carry the game.Gameplay: Standard RTS. Nothing new, nothing spectacular. You have a base, you build buildings, you harvest resources, you build units, you kill your enemy. Not sure if there is a rock, paper, scissors system implemented. Path finding is not the best. Not really excusable for such a game today.Music: This is actually the best part. Get the OST, skip the game, really.Check out YouTube reviews if you want a bit more graphic detail, but it's just not my kind of game and I'm a big RTS fan...requesting a refund, sorry. Not an actually finished product in my eyes. Feels and plays like an Early Access title.
